Train services across Greater Manchester and the North West face major disruption due to an ongoing rail fault.
This widespread disruption, stemming from an electrical failure at a communications centre, has led to cancellations, delays of up to an hour, and rescheduled services.
Multiple operators are impacted, including Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express, and Transport for Wales.
All Avanti West Coast services out of Macclesfield railway station have been suspended.
Trains on the Liverpool Lime Street/Nottingham/Norwich routes are not running between Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street; East Midlands Railway states this will persist "until further notice."
Rail tickets are being accepted on all Bee Network buses and Metrolink lines across Greater Manchester.
Off-Peak ticket restrictions have also been relaxed during the disruption.
Rail operators are advising passengers not to travel and to seek alternative transport; Northern and TransPennine Express issue a direct warning: "Do not travel."

Travellers can claim a full refund if they decide not to travel.
Thousands of rail passengers described their journeys as 'nightmare' due to the extensive delays and cancellations.

The disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day, Thursday, 6th August, affecting all operator routes across Greater Manchester, a Bee Network spokesman confirmed.
As of 20:00 BST on Thursday, at least eight rail operators remained affected by the fault.
Transport for Wales claims disruption to its services is expected until 17:30, while TransPennine Express anticipates issues will resolve by 16:00, creating conflicting timelines for passengers.
