Luke Littler to Star in Netflix Darts Competition with £501,000 Prize

Open regional heats for aspiring contenders will commence in September 2024, with auditions scheduled for London and Manchester.

The show itself will air live on Netflix on Friday, October 30, 2024; applicants must be aged 12 and over, with those under 18 requiring parental accompaniment for auditions.

This initiative follows Littler's recent triumph, securing his second consecutive Betfred World Matchplay title in 2024 after defeating Gerwyn Price 18-9 in a decisive match.

In that contest, Littler shattered Phil Taylor's long-standing records for the highest average in both the tournament and the final.

His victory over Gerwyn Price on Sunday night continued his dominance of the sport, setting new records and claiming £225,000 in prize money.

At only 19 years old, Littler stands established as the best player in the world, having claimed £3,143,500 over the PDC's two-year order of merit.

The series is produced in partnership with the PDC, aligning the streaming giant with professional darts as Netflix aggressively expands its original sports programming.

This expansion includes football documentaries and shows about figures such as Jamie Vardy and Jose Mourinho, aligning the move into live sports content, exemplified by 'Beat Luke Littler,' with a broader industry shift towards direct engagement with athletic events.

Luke Littler issued a direct challenge to potential competitors, stating, "Reckon you could beat me in a game of darts? Let’s go."

He further asserted, "Everyone thinks they can beat me. Now they get a chance to prove it. Bring it on."

Netflix confirmed the stakes, stating, "The rules are simple: one night, one chance, and one perfect leg of 501. If an amateur can defeat darts prodigy Luke Littler, they will walk away with a life-changing £501,000."

Littler became the youngest world number one at 17 in January 2025, a rapid ascent that demanded significant personal sacrifice.

He had to forgo a family holiday in Spain to compete in Pro Tour events in Leicester, operating on an entirely different level in darts, having already won the World Championship, UK Open, Premier League, and the Masters in 2026.

While Netflix recruits 20 competitors for the show, other accounts suggest the series will feature members of the public challenging Littler to a darts match, indicating potential variations in the final format.
