He accused Meloni of barring the US from using Italian air facilities for American military operations in Iran, despite substantial US financial contributions to NATO allies.
Trump linked Meloni's alleged decline in popularity in Italy to her decision to deny the United States access for operations against Iran's nuclear ambitions.
He later claimed Meloni now seeks renewed friendship 'after the United States defeated Iran militarily' to improve her public standing.
