Michael Thompson has received a life sentence with a minimum term of 33 years for the rape and murder of his estranged wife, Kimberley Thompson.

A post-mortem examination found no evidence of alcohol in Ms Thompson's body, only low levels of caffeine, paracetamol, and codeine.
