Green Party leader Zack Polanski is facing intense scrutiny after sharing an Instagram post featuring a man in a T-shirt depicting a guillotine alongside the name 'Nigel'.
Zack Polanski, Green Party leader, posted a controversial image to his Instagram account, featuring a man in a top with the name 'Nigel' alongside a guillotine.
The image displayed a man in a T-shirt stating: 'We're only making plans for Nigel,' a direct reference to the 1979 XTC song title.
Polanski immediately unshared the post once the image came to his attention; a Green spokesman confirmed the swift removal.
The spokesman stated: "After attending a public event, Zack accepted a request to collaborate on a post with several images. Once this image was brought to his attention he immediately unshared the post. He unequivocally does not support this type of dangerous message."
Despite the swift removal, the incident escalated rapidly; Reform UK now reports Mr Polanski to the police.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed receiving a third-party report on Monday, July 27, regarding a social media image and are conducting inquiries into the matter.
Alex Wilson, Reform UK leader on the London Assembly, will also raise a formal complaint to the Greater London Assembly, amplifying the political pressure.
Nigel Farage, a prominent political figure, stated unequivocally: "If I was to post anything as inciteful then I would expect to be arrested, and so should Polanski."
